PROGRESSIVE® INSURANCE NASHVILLE BOAT & SPORTSHOW® SET FOR FIRST RUN IN MUSIC CITY CENTER
New Location Provides Annual Boat Show Ideal Setting for Visitors To Discover Boating – Hundreds of New Boats for Sale, Plus Summer Fun Indoors, Including Duck Dynasty Appearance and Chance To Get on the Water Indoors
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 2, 2014) – The Progressive Insurance Nashville Boat & Sportshow, Tennessee’s premier expo for recreational boaters, fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts, is preparing to launch in its new home – Nashville’s Music City Center – Jan. 23 through 26. The show will feature hundreds of new boats for sale, plus a dose of summer fun with nautical attractions and educational offerings for all ages.
 
An exciting addition to this year’s show is a special appearance by John Godwin from A&E’s hit series “Duck Dynasty” (appearing Sunday, Jan. 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Godwin is a recurring guest on “Duck Dynasty,” and has been an employee of Duck Commander since 2002. Godwin’s main title at Duck Commander is decoy technician, which means he figures out the exact spots decoys should be placed, and works on all equipment after the hunt to make sure it is ready for the next day’s hunt. He also builds the duck calls, manages supplies and oversees the shipping department. You can see Godwin on episodes including “Duckmen 7-11,” “The Art of Commanding Ducks” and “Best of Duckmen.”
 
Other new features at this year’s show include the ‘Be a Diver’ pool, which gives attendees the opportunity to scuba dive for free, and Captain Mike and Calico Jack’s Pirate Ship – a replica of a real pirate ship where adults and children will be able to dress like a pirate and have their picture taken. Show staples including the fishing seminar series and the Bass Tubs of Oklahoma Fish Tank will be back at this year’s show.
 
Returning to the show is Paddlefest, hosted by Canoe Kentucky, providing attendees a chance to try out kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards in a large on-site pool. It has become one of the most popular demonstrations at the show as interest in paddlesports, kayaking and canoeing has increased in recent years.
 
“Because Middle Tennessee is full of small rivers and waterways that are ideal for paddleboats, coupled with an active-lifestyle population, we expect Paddlefest to draw a lot of attention again this year,” noted Kim Muncy, show manager.
 
The popular annual show will begin taking advantage of the increased space and amenities in its first year and is expected to feature hundreds of boats and occupy more than 180,000 square feet. The additional space will allow the show to expand even further in the coming years as the recreational boating industry continues to grow.
 
Other features at the 2014 Nashville Boat & Sportshow include daily fishing seminars for all experience levels from local professional angler Joey Monteleone, and free kids’ boating safety sessions through the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital Water Wise Program.
 
Tickets are $6 on Thursday, Jan. 23, for adults ages 16 and older, and $9 the following three days. Children ages 15 and younger are admitted free throughout the show.
